Rentals exist for temporary needs. If someone is coming home from surgery in two weeks, or a parent is staying for the winter, buying a stair lift is the wrong answer to the right problem. We rent straight stair lifts across New Hampshire with fast installation and full service included.

If none of those describe your situation, buying almost certainly costs less over time. We will say so rather than place a rental that ends up costing more.
Hip and knee replacements, cardiac procedures, spinal surgery, and serious fractures all put stairs out of reach for a stretch. Recovery commonly runs six weeks to three months before stairs feel manageable, and the bedroom and full bathroom are usually upstairs.
When a family member steps in to provide care for a few months, the house they move into was rarely set up for it. A rental makes the arrangement workable without permanent changes to someone else’s home.
A parent staying for a season, a holiday visit that runs long, or a relative recovering at a family member’s house all fit the same pattern. The equipment goes in, does its job, and comes out.

Nothing about the equipment is stripped back because it is rented. It is the same straight stair lift we sell.
We rent straight rails and nothing else, and the reason is worth stating once clearly.
A straight rail can be cut down, reconditioned, and installed in another home. A curved rail is measured, drawn, and fabricated for one specific staircase. It will not fit a second one, it holds almost no resale value, and no dealer can recover its cost across multiple rentals. That is why curved rentals are not offered by us or by anyone else.
If your staircase turns, the options are a purchase or the one year lease. We will price both.
An installation and removal fee is charged once, covering labor at both ends. A monthly rate covers the equipment. Minimum terms apply, and three months is the common starting point.
A twelve month commitment at a lower monthly rate than short term rental, with installation, service, and removal included. It suits an uncertain timeline or a progressive condition where the length of need is not yet clear.
The two arrangements cross over at around eight to twelve months of total use. Past that point, purchasing generally costs less than continuing to rent. Ask us to run the comparison on your quote.

Removal takes an hour or two, less time than the installation did.
Brackets bolt into the stair treads, so what remains afterward is a set of small holes in the wood or the carpet. On carpeted stairs the fibers close over them and they go unnoticed. On bare treads the holes can be filled and touched up by a finish carpenter for very little. No wall repair is needed, because nothing was ever fixed to the wall.

Rental pricing has two parts, a one time installation and removal fee and a monthly rate for the equipment. The first payment is larger because it combines the two. Call for current rates, since availability and terms change through the year.
Compare the total across your expected term rather than the monthly figure alone. A short rental of three or four months is comfortably cheaper than buying. A rental running past a year usually is not, which is when the lease or a purchase makes more sense.
No. Medicare classifies stair lifts as home modifications rather than durable medical equipment, so Original Medicare does not cover rental or purchase. Some Medicare Advantage plans carry supplemental home modification benefits worth checking.
Renting is cheaper for short term needs, roughly up to eight to twelve months of total use. Past that crossover, buying costs less and leaves you owning equipment that can be resold or removed later. We will run both numbers before you decide.
Straight rail installations usually happen within a week or two of the site visit, and sooner when the schedule allows. If a discharge date is coming, call now rather than after.
